What magic lies in choosing faith over fear?✨
When we choose faith over fear, we're making a profound decision about how we navigate life's uncertainties. Fear keeps us focused on what might go wrong, while faith opens us to possibility and resilience.
Faith doesn't necessarily mean religious belief, though it can include that. To me it means trust in our own capabilities and a bold confidence that we can handle whatever comes our way, even the challenging. ‘The Universe has got my back.‘ -just to refer back to the previous blog post on the magic of existing in the world. It is a belief in the basic goodness of life and others and the perspective of that even difficulties serve a purpose.
The magic of faith over fear isn't supernatural at all, it's more like the natural unfolding of human potential when we're not constrained by our learnt protective mechanisms that limit our engagement with life and others. It's about experiencing life from a place of possibility rather than protection, because when we operate from fear, we contract and protect. When we operate from faith, we expand and grow. This shift doesn't mean eliminating fear entirely—fear has its protective purpose for a good reason—but rather not allowing it to be our primary decision-maker. My own experience in my own life and the many people I met in the therapy room holds the mirror for me to see how much tension and resistance restriction can create that comes with fear-based living and how it blocks the natural flow of life and us being present in certain areas of our life in a way that it can brings us joy. When we release that restriction through faith, we allow life's energy to move more freely through and around us. That's where the magic happens—in that space of allowing rather than resisting. In the therapy room I can feel when someone with tension in their shoulders is able to take a deep breath and exhale that tension every time, I can feel their muscles soften more easily under my hands, rather than working against a solid wall. They have faith that what they ask for will be done.
This tangible energy shift is truly transformative. When we allow ourselves to approach life with openness, something remarkable happens on multiple levels. Internally, we experience a sense of expansiveness rather than constriction and we can discover new ideas and our creative problem-solving abilities through our greater resilience when facing challenges, because our nervous system feels calmer and we can respond to challenges more rather than reacting to them all the time. Externally we may notice changes in how opportunities seem to present themselves, more "coincidences" and fortuitous timing—like being in the right place at the right time for unexpected opportunities. This is our activated RAS system, our conscious decisions to focus on what we want to focus on, our ability to recognize possibilities we might have missed before, simply because we shifted the focus. We take steps and make decisions from an inspiration, as faith widens our field of vision, allowing us to see opportunities and possibilities that fear would blind us to, because when operating from fear we would narrow everything down expecting the worse. With faith in the unknown, become attuned to potential rather than threats. I love asking the question and keep my RAS active and engaged around ‘What is the best that can happen?’ Just be curious, what else can happen instead of deciding that ‘since I am used to this and that, those are the only possibilities’.
I feel that within the external changes we can definitely mention the quality shift in our relationships and connections too, as faith enables genuine vulnerability and openness with others with more ease. These authentic connections create amazing support systems and relationships that enrich our lives in unexpected ways.
This magical shift isn't just philosophical—it's practical and observable. When we operate from openness and faith, we're more likely to take inspired action, persist through challenges and difficulty, and remain open and receptive to unexpected solutions, rather than shutting down. I feel we become better listeners, and more present in our interactions, and more willing to venture beyond our comfort zones, because we see that magic happens there and that childlike wander is calling us to experience the world. Faith doesn't promise absence of hardship, but offers a different way to move through it. I feel that we develop the ability to find meaning in challenges rather than being defined by them.
Thank you for being you and allowing your magic shine, grounding these frequencies and vibrations, making it available for the world.
Always with love
