I take life one step at a time
I take life one step at a time.
I feel that this is such a relevant and a deeply thoughtful approach to life. Taking things step by step can help make challenges more manageable rather than feeling overwhelmed and let us focus on what's immediately in front of us to address. I collected practical ways of taking life one step at a time:
1. Breaking large goals into smaller, manageable tasks help staying in track rather than getting overwhelmed by big objectives and the manageable pieces help with being consistent, which is key in my opinion. For example, rather than "feel better," start with "take three deep breaths in gratitude each morning" or "walk at least 15 minutes today", collect every small step that can help you feel better. 2. Focus on the present moment, because when your mind races to future worries, it gets your body chemistry the wrong direction. It's okay, we are all human, however being in charge, gently bring your attention back to what you're doing right now. If you're washing dishes, feel the warm water and soap. If you're walking, notice your surroundings. This is a fabulous mindfulness practice keeping you present as you take life one step at a time.
3. Create daily routines can be a game changer, as having a structured day helps you concentrate on one task at a time. Start with basic habits like making your bed or having a morning coffee/tea ritual. I love infusing my intentions into my hot beverage each morning. How I want to feel, how I want to show up as. Anything that is relevant
4. Taking mindfulness further, you can practice mindful decision-making. When facing choices, make sure you avoid rushing. Consider your immediate needs and values rather than trying to solve everything at once. Breathe on it, maybe even sleep on it and start with a clear head.
5. Notice and celebrate your small wins
Please, please, please, this is huge and sooo important to acknowledge your daily accomplishments, no matter how minor they seem. Completing a work task, calling a friend, or cooking a meal are all worthy of recognition, especially from yourself towards yourself
6. Set clear boundaries, even if you have heard this a million times, this is just super essential Why? Well, learning to say "no" to commitments that overwhelm you is crucial to keep that spark and flame burning and shine. It's okay to handle one responsibility at a time rather than trying to please everyone. It is impossible anyway, you just cannot please everyone, make your peace with it, the sooner the better
7. Use simple planning tools to keep you track. I love jotting things and ideas down, even if it comes to my shopping list, so I can stick to it rather than get distracted and forget all I should have bought and bought everything I didn't even think of buying
Keep a basic to-do list or calendar, but avoid over-scheduling of course. Allow time for tasks. One step time, remember? Focus on what needs your attention today or this week and schedule everything else around those core elements
8. Accept imperfections I feel you, believe me!I must remind myself, so here I am reminding you that progress is not linear. Some days will be more challenging than others, and that's perfectly fine and normal for all.of us human fellows walking this Earth, having this human experience we call life
Always with love
